Dental Insurance

Participation We will submit insurance claims on your behalf to almost any dental insurance company in the United States. If we are able to verify your coverage, we will extend a limited amount of credit based on that dental insurance coverage.
Fees, not HMO  Most dental insurance policies are based on fee-for-service reimbursement. This means that you are responsible for the entire fee - but your insurance will pay some portion on many procedures. There are a few dental HMO's, but even those have widely varying copays - so you will not experience the fixed amount copay as with your medical insurance.
claim submittal We submit insurance claims to any dental insurance company in the United States, as a courtesy to you. You are still responsible for the payment of our fee.
credit For new patients, we ask for payment at time of service. If we can verify that you have dental insurance, we will extend credit for the estimated insurance payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
contracts between dentists and dental insurance companies We have contracts with two insurance companies: Delta Dental of NJ (with reciprocal contracts with most Delta Dental plans) and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Connecticut. We do not anticipate signing contracts with any more insurance companies. A contract between a dentist an insurance company typically obligates the dentist to honor the fee schedule of the insurance company, instead of his/her own fee schedule. In return, the insurance company gives out the dentist's name to their insured families, so the dentist gets more patients.
