We recommend that you floss and brush your teeth at least twice daily, with a soft toothbrush and a quality toothpaste that contains fluoride. Do not use hard bristle brushes - they can wear away your gums.
There are devices on the market that can clean your teeth more thoroughly than a regular toothbrush. Electric toothbrushes from Sonicare, Braun, and Hydrofloss are good. Irrigators from Hydrofloss and WaterPik provide good supplements to brushing and flossing.
We recommend that you come in to our office for a cleaning and examination at least twice per year - more often if you have displayed signs of periodontal disease, or fast plaque build-up. This will allow us to help you fight periodontal disease, and find any problems early on, while problems are easier to take care of.
It should be obvious that restorations (fillings) are much easier and less expensive than root canal treatment, crowns, and implants. Regular visits for X-rays, cleanings, and examinations will make your visits easy and less expensive, while helping you to enjoy your teeth for a lifetime.
The sad truth is, dentures are a poor substitute for natural teeth. Take good care of your teeth, and they will serve you well for many years.
